Research Assistant for Dr. Daryl Boness, Department Chair at the Department of Zoological Research, Smithsonian National Zoological Park.

Ordering, preparing and packing supplies for faculty field research trips. Set-up and maintenance of equipment, specimens, replication of data collected in the field. Data analysis of harbor seal’s vocalizations and behavior; using computer programs to measure the frequency and intensity and individuality of calls, while simultaneously monitoring under water video activity to propose explanations for behavior in application to communication.

Lab Technician for Dr.Mike Power, Nutrition Laboratory at the Department of Zoological Research, Smithsonian National Zoological Park.

Analysis of Tamarin milk samples to reconstruct fat composition and fecal analysis to assess mineral and vitamin content. Proper disposal of possible biohazard bi-products.

1995-1997:
Research Assistant for Dr. Devra Kleiman, Senior Scientist at the Department of Zoological Research at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park.

Bibliographic inventory and organization via applied technology using computer programs. Research Assistant for Dr. Carlos Ruiz-Miranda, Director of the Minority Internship Program at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park.

· Set-up and maintenance of equipment, specimens, replication of data collected in the field. Evaluation and analysis of data collected in the field (Brazil) and captive (Zoo) Golden Lion Tamarins, using audio, video and computer programs to assess calling behavior in individual and group behavior.

· Observational studies inside zoo enclosure of Golden Lion Tamarin to asses behavior in captive individuals vs. wild as a means to improve captive life quality and preparation of animals; physically and psychologically for release programs in conservation efforts.

· Docent at Smithsonian school outreach program in Washington D.C to educate grade school children about ecosystems, in Washington D.C.

· Docent in Smithsonian public outreach programs through interactive research labs at Amazonia Science Gallery in the National Zoological Park.

Intern Data Analyst, Smithsonian National Zoological Park, Jenny Boughman, graduate student University of Maryland.

Set-up and maintenance of equipment, specimens, replication of data collected in the field .Data analysis of vocalization and flying behavior in greater spear nose bats using computer audio and infra-red visual programs to analyze behavior. Assistance in animal husbandry of bat colony.

1993-1994:
Research Assistant for Sheri Zhan, Department of Animal Behavioral, University of California, Santa Barbara

Capture, tag, house, experimentally manipulate (symmetry) and release sparrows and finches to observe and identify mating behavior and sexual selection in birds.

Field Research Assistant and Lab Assistant for Stephen Swearer, Department of Animal Behavior, University of California, Santa Barbara and University of Guam
