Wireless Network Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is my login information for Chaffey Wireless Network?

Your username is the first initial of your first and last name (lower case) and your Chaffey College 7-digit student/employee ID number (e.g., if your name is Xavier Yan and your student/employee ID number is 0123456, your username is xy0123456).
Your password is your birth date in mmddyy format (e.g., if you were born on January 7, 1989, your password is 010789)

Q. Internet explorer displays the following error message: "There is a problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority..." What should I do to resolve this issue?

To resolve this issue, install the Chaffey College certificate on your computer or Click Continue to this website. To install the certificate, follow these steps:

  1. In Windows Internet Explorer, click Continue to this website (not recommended).
A red Address Bar and a certificate warning appear.
  2. Click the Certificate Error button to open the information window.
  3. Click View Certificates, and then click Install Certificate.
  4. On the warning message that appears, click Yes to install the certificate.
Notes : In Windows Vista, the same issue occurs with self-signed certificates. However, the option to install certificates is not available unless you run Windows Internet Explorer with administrator rights. To do this, right-click the Internet Explorer icon, and then select Run as Administrator.

Q. When connecting to the college wireless, I receive this Security Alert: This page requires a secure connection which includes server authentication.
The Certificate Issuer for this site is untrusted or unknown. Do you wish to proceed?
what should I do?

Browsers recognize trusted certificate authorities, and will warn you if the authentication was provided by an unknown or untrusted provider. This is because Chaffey College issued the security certificate. If you click on View Certificate, you should see that the certificate was issued by Chaffey College. Select Yes to connect to the wireless network.
