New Careers For The 21st Century

The Program
Most of your career choices in the 21st century are driven by the dramatic increase in the population of older adults—elders as well as Baby Boomers. But aging is very different in the 21st century. Many people are living longer and healthier, and with more disposable income, "reinventing retirement." New services and new products are being created for these clients and consumers. At the same time, other older people are living with disability, frailty, and limited incomes. New models of care are being developed to address these needs.

A Certificate or degree in Gerontology opens the door to these new careers and professions. Chaffey’s Gerontology Program offers internship and mentoring opportunities with professionals in the field. Short-term training courses may lead to immediate employment. Nurses, social workers, and administrators of care facilities also earn Continuing Education units.
