Scholarships are a form of gift aid that does not have to be repaid; they can be based upon financial need, academic merit, or academic program. In fact, scholarships are available for students to apply based upon many different reasons. For example, there are many scholarships that target students that are studying in a certain field (i.e. nursing, biology, communications, etc.), or for students that are involved in their community. Below are some resources to help with your scholarship search. Don't just skip to the search, read the articles and the advice that it gives. This site also lists other search databases. www.collegeboard.org - Locate scholarships, internships, and other financial aid programs from non-college sources that match your educational level, talents and background. The search function will help you find potential opportunities from a database of more than 2,300 undergraduate scholarships. www.collegenet.com/mach25 - Scholarship query site that allows the student to look up scholarships by categories, which really helps narrow down the search. www.scholarship-page.com - A very good, basic scholarship search engine. |
