| Welcome to the English faculty at Chaffey College.
The Chaffey College English Department is dynamic and innovative, and its
members are involved with many of the most significant projects and activities
at the College: One Book~One College, service learning, computer-assisted
instruction, online instruction, Gateways to Teaching, the Success Centers,
Distance Education, Faculty Senate, CCFA, and The Chaffey Review.
The department also supports part-time faculty through its online Faculty
Handbook, workshops, and staff development. Historically, part-time English
faculty have presented at national and statewide conferences with the support
of English department resources. Part-time faculty members are encouraged
to access all of the opportunities for professional growth.
Along with this potential for professional enrichment, all instructors must be mindful of their professional responsibilities. Instructors must complete and submit all class management materials (census, grades, etc.) in a timely manner; they should communicate effectively with department and division staff via phone and email; they must be sensitive to the needs and challenges of underprepared students; and they must teach their courses in accordance with published syllabi based on the appropriate Course Outlines of Record (CORs). Thank you for joining the Chaffey College English department team. Please consult the department Web site for additional information about courses, syllabi, campus locations, grading standards, and departmental philosophy. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions. Neil Watkins, Ph.D.
