Once you have registered and paid for your classes, you are ready to
begin your coursework. You must show up for the first day of
class to confirm your enrollment. If you don’t, the instructor has
the option of dropping you from the class or giving your spot to another student. If you miss the first class
meeting, but want to continue with the class, go to the next class meeting
and see if the instructor has dropped you. If you have not been dropped,
you may continue with the class as scheduled. You are also advisied to try and contact the instructor ahead of time to let he or she know that you are unable to make it to the first class meeting, but don't want to be dropped. Be sure to pick up a
syllabus and any information you missed from the first class meeting.
If the instructor intends to drop you because he or she has added someone
in your place, go to My Chaffey View and drop the class yourself from the class. It is important for you to do this in
case the instructor doesn’t complete the process. Instructors
have occasionally forgotten to drop students, and then later issued
a grade of “F” for non-attendance. It is mainly the student's responsibility to drop yourself from your classes. Do not rely on the instructor to do it for you.
You may also want to purchase your books ahead of time to look them
over before the class begins. Books are available at the Bookstore
under the instructor’s name, class title and section number or at our Online Bookstore.
If you buy your books early, you also have the best chance of getting
a less costly used book instead of a new one.
On the first day of class, be sure to give yourself plenty of time
to drive to the campus or take the bus. On the main campus, parking
can be quite a problem, creating lots of delays. For the first couple of weeks,
give yourself an extra 20 to 30 minutes to get to class on time. Again,
remember the instructor has the option of dropping you for not being
present when he or she takes roll. Get there early, get a seat, and
If you have any problems with registering or getting started, please
come to the Counseling Office. During the registration period, counselors
are available on a walk-in basis only.
Now is the time to come and complete your educational plan either through a workshop or a one-on-one with a counselor. Please call the Counseling Department so that we can set you up for the right appointment.
