Automotive collision repair technicians restore damaged motor vehicles by straightening bent frames, removing dents, welding torn metal, and replacing defective parts. Special equipment is used to align marred frames and body sections. Pneumatic panel cutters are utilized to remove ruined body panels and new sections are welded in place. Large dents are pushed out with hydraulic jacks, hand-prying bars, hand tools, or pneumatic hammers. Plastic or solder is used to fill smell dents that cannot be worked out of metals. Following restoration, surfaces are sanded and painted. This degree includes all repairer phases of damaged bodies and fenders, including painting. This program prepares students for employment in the industry.
